Classroom Policies and Expectations

Classroom Policies

Be on Time

You are expected to be in your seat by the time class starts.
Lateness disrupts the classroom environment

Be Prepared

You are expected to come to school each day with the following items:
2 pens or 2 pencils. (Just in case one runs out or breaks)
A composition notebook
A 3-Ring 1" or 2" Binder
Loose leaf paper
A folder for handouts
Global History Activity Book & Packet

If you do not bring one or more of these items for more than 2 days, the following consequence will occur:

Be Respectful

Each person in the room will be respectful towards others in Mr. Ott’s classroom.
It is expected that each person show their respect by:
Only one person speaking at a time during class discussions.
Raising a hand and waiting to be called on.
Actively listening to each other by looking towards the person speaking and trying to understand their point of view.
No foul or degrading language towards others.
Moving your seat if you are asked to by Mr.Ott or any other authority figure.

If you do not show your respect in these ways, you will receive the following consequences

Absences

If you are absent from Mr. Ott’s class you must do the following
For more than 2 absences in a row, bring a note explaining your absence that is signed by a parent or legal guardian, doctor, or authority figure.
You are expected to check your weekly syllabus and complete your homework. You may look up homework on the classroom wiki at Global History Classroom Wiki
You are expected to get the notes from the days that you missed.
Failure to bring in a note, complete your homework, or copy the notes will result in disciplinary action.

Homework

Homework must be handed in the day it is due.
All assignments and homework will be accepted up until 1 week before the end of the term for a minimum of 50% of the point value.

Syllabus

Each week you will receive a syllabus with the topics we will be covering and what you will be expected to complete. It will have assignments and due dates listed as well as tests and quizzes.

Grading

Grades are calculated on a point system. The following are the percentages for each category.

This is a NEW BETA Grading Policy It is performance based.

Classwork: 50% (Includes: Participation and Completion of daily worksheets and projects)

Quiz & Tests: 40% (Includes: Quizzes, Tests, DBQ’s, Essays, and Projects)

Homework: 10% (All homework assignments)

Quizzes & Tests

Students who miss quizzes and tests will be allowed to make up that quiz or test at a scheduled (by teacher and student) date. Missing that scheduled date may result in a zero for that quiz or test.

Don't Waste Your Time Achieve Your Goal of Passing the Regents Exam and this Class!
	How do we achieve this goal? Take Notes Review Notes Active Listening Ask Questions Practice by Reviewing Study Guides and Old Regents Exams Test Yourself by Using Online Quizzes and Flash Cards

In order to pass the multiple choice portion of the exam, you should practice Regents-based questions. Remember, you need to achieve at least a score of 25 out of 50 as a minimum for the multiple choice portion of the Regents exam. Please see the Regents Formula for more information.

By taking these quizzes over-and-over, you will be able to commit these historic events to memory for recall on your exam. You should print out a copy, and use a piece of lined paper to record your answers. Then, check them verses the correct answers listed online.
