AIM: How do we define, Culture, Regions, and Customs?

Today we are discussing Regions in Geography.
What is a region?
A Region is an area with common features that set it apart from other areas.
What kind of Regions are there?
Different Types of Regions:
- Physical Regions: (Continents, Amazon, Rocky Mountains, Grand Canyon, Long Island)
- Climate Regions: (North Pole, Sahara Desert, Himalayas, Andes Mountains)
- Cultural Regions: (Latin America, Chiapas – Mayan Indian, Cherokee Nation)
- Political Regions: (U.S.A., United Kingdom, Egypt, Greece, Italy)
- Other Regions: (Military: NATO, Religion: Islam, Christian, Judaism)
What is Culture?
All the ways of life including arts, beliefs and institutions (family, government, religion, etc) of a population that are passed down from generation to generation.
Culture has been called "the way of life for an entire society”
What is a Custom?
Customs are codes of manners, dress, language, religion, and rituals (Something done over and over, day after day or year after year)
