Introduction
There are many complex and narrow definitions of Imperialism, so what actually is imperialism in simple terms?

Let's break it down!
- an "-ism" ending on any word means a belief in
- "imperial" - means anything related to a
monarchy (king/queen) - In the 19th century, a king or queen oversees or controls an empire. An "empire" is an area controlled by a monarch.
- If you switch the "I" and "e" in the word "imperialism" you get "EmpIre, with the "e" dropped when "ism" is added.
