Overview of Content
While the film Forest Gump is rate PG-13 there are various uses of language that are offensive today as well as during the time of the periods displayed in the film. These scenes were a reflection of the times, and are no way indicative of today's cultural norms or views of either the filmmaker or the teacher(s) in the class. Forest Gump is a journey of a non-diagnosed man making his journey through various historic periods attempting to make sense of the world around him through his thoughts and perceptions. The film allows the audience to make their own judgements and view these periods through their current perspectives and lenses. This powerful film also illustrates how far we as nation, people, and as individuals have come in our quest for equality and acceptance.
