A historian studies history which is the study of past events. They study the causes and effects of events from various perspectives or points-of-view. They study the people who are the important key people and their decisions. They study political, social, and economic events. This could include different types of governments, laws, and conflict (wars). There are many different types of historians who focus on specific aspects of civilizations. Look at the graphic to the left to see how historians gather and interpret information necessary for their research.
