Age of Exploration - Process

  • Each groups of three (3) OR four (4) students are randomly assigned one Explorer.
  • Complete research for your explorer by answering the following questions:
    • What were the reasons your explorer set out into the unknown?
    • What were the obstacles your explorer faced?
    • What were the accomplishments of your explorer?
    • Research & Evaluate the Eurocentric Point-of-View (POV) regarding the explorer?
    • Research & Evaluate the Americentric Point-of-View (POV) regarding the explorer?
    • Develop three (3) Bloom's Taxonomy questions (Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis) levels and answer them using further research.

You must cite the sources where you have found your information. You may NOT use Wikipedia as a source, but can use Wikipedia for obtaining the original source.

  1. Christopher Columbus
  2. Henry Hudson
  3. Francisco Pizarro
  4. Hernan Cortes
  5. Prince Henry the Navigator
  6. Bartolomeu Dias
  7. Ferndinand Magellan
  8. Vasco da Gama

Activity

Each group will answer the following questions:

  1. What were the reasons your explorer set out into the unknown?
  2. What were the obstacles your explorer faced?
  3. What were the accomplishments of your explorer?
  4. Research & Evaluate the Eurocentric Point-of-View (POV) regarding the explorer?
  5. Research & Evaluate the Americentric Point-of-View (POV) regarding the explorer?
  6. Develop three (3) Bloom's Taxonomy questions (Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis) levels and answer them using further research.

The Questions developed above must be aligned to the Analysis, Evaluate, and Synthesis levels on Bloom's Taxonomy.
