The New Roman Times: A Newspaper of the Roman Empire

Directions: The following stories are part of this webquest for you to write. Here are some ideas and step you can take to assist you in writing your stories.

Stories A, D, E are basic fact=driven informational historical stories (non-fiction) , whereas stories B, C are creative narratives we will call historical fiction in which you will use the evidence as the basis for your writing by putting yourself in the Roman Empire.

a. Roman Architecture & Engineering - Story about three main architecture designs used in Roman Architecture and for each. 
      - Introduce the architecture and/or engineering item
      - Answer the 5W's (Who, What, Where, When, Why is it important/significant/impactful
      - Non-Fiction Writing



b. Roman Army - Diary Entry describing a typical day as a soldier. Write in 1st person
      - Create a story as if you were a soldier in the Roman Army.
      - Write about camp life, your uniform, the weapons you have, how exciting or lonely it is, etc.
      - Historical Non-Fiction Writing



c. Roman Society - Diary Entry describing a typical day in the life of a wealth Plebeian Woman. Write in 1st person
      - Create a story as if you were a wealthy woman in Ancient Rome
      - Write about everyday life, your role in society, what are the societal limits because you are a woman
      - Historical Fiction Writing



d. Emperors of Imperial Rome - Biography on a Roman Emperor
      - Introduce the Roman Emperor
      - Answer the 5W's (Who, What, Where, When, Why were they important/significant/impactful
      - Non-Fiction Writing



e. Fall of Roman Empire - Story about how the Barbarians invaded the Roman Empire.
      - Answer the 5W's (Who, What, Where, When, Why is it important/significant/impactful
      - Non-Fiction Writing

Directions: You can use any media you wish for this. Google Slides, Google Docs, Google Images, etc.

1. Roman Entertainment - Poster advertising Chariot Races, Gladiator Games, or a Roman Play to a Roman Audience.
     - Use what you found out about Roman Entertainment
     - Should be graphical based with some text. You could create a Meme
