Classroom Policies
Be on Time
- You are expected to be in your seat by the time class starts.
- Lateness disrupts the classroom environment
Be Prepared
- You are expected to come to school each day with the following items:
- 2 pens or 2 pencils. (Just in case one runs out or breaks)
- A composition notebook
- A 3-Ring 1" or 2" Binder
- Loose leaf paper
- A folder for handouts
- Global History Activity Book & Packet
- If you do not bring one or more of these items for more than 2 days, the following consequence will occur:
Be Respectful
- Each person in the room will be respectful towards others in Mr. Ott’s classroom.
- It is expected that each person show their respect by:
- Only one person speaking at a time during class discussions.
- Raising a hand and waiting to be called on.
- Actively listening to each other by looking towards the person speaking and trying to understand their point of view.
- No foul or degrading language towards others.
- Moving your seat if you are asked to by Mr.Ott or any other authority figure.
- If you do not show your respect in these ways, you will receive the following consequences
Absences
- If you are absent from Mr. Ott’s class you must do the following
- For more than 2 absences in a row, bring a note explaining your absence that is signed by a parent or legal guardian, doctor, or authority figure.
- You are expected to check your weekly syllabus and complete your homework. You may look up homework on the classroom wiki at Global History Classroom Wiki
- You are expected to get the notes from the days that you missed.
- Failure to bring in a note, complete your homework, or copy the notes will result in disciplinary action.
Homework
- Most homework, except when noted differently, can be handed in 1 week before end of marking period.
- Homework must be handed in the last day it is due for the marking period.
Grading Policy
- Grades are based on a point system. exams, projects, quizzes, homework, and daily work are all assigned points.
Grades are calculated on a point system. The following are the percentages for each category.
Classwork: 50% (Includes: Participation and Completion of daily worksheets and projects)
Quiz & Tests: 40% (Includes: Quizzes, Tests, DBQ’s, Essays, and Projects)
Homework: 10% (All homework assignments)
Contract
Your first homework assignment is to have your classroom contract signed and brought back the next day. Class Contract
Syllabus
Each week you will receive a syllabus with the topics we will be covering and what you will be expected to complete. It will have assignments and due dates listed as well as tests and quizzes.
Website
This website contains information for resources for Social Studies. Students can look up lesson schedule, classwork, homework, quiz and test schedules, and resources for the course and history topics. Students can practice Multiple Choice

Quizzes & Tests
Students who miss quizzes and tests will be allowed to make up that quiz or test at a scheduled (by teacher and student) date. Missing that scheduled date may result in a zero for that quiz or test.
To practice for a quiz, please use the classroom quiz page on the wiki. All quiz questions are chosen from those bank of questions. Wednesday will be our normal quiz day, unless circumstances delay the quiz.
Extra Credit
Extra Credit will only be given for quizzes submitted online. 50% will fulfill Homework requirements, and 50% will fulfill classwork requirements. They may not be used in place of classwork or homework, but can be an added to your grade. Quizzes will automatically be emailed to Mr. Ott. Only the top score on each quiz will count towards extra credit.
