Essential Question (EQ): In what ways can protest exist as allowed under the 1st Amendment?
Do Now: What does the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution say about protesting?
- Find a partner, only 2 for this activity.
- For this activity, while sharing your response, focus on the "right to peacefully assemble" and "Petition the government for redress ( the setting right of what is wrong) of grievances ( complaint or protestation based on such a circumstance. )" aspect of the 1st Amendment. Ask each other some of these questions:
- Do you have to "peacefully" protest? Can you use violence to get your complaint resolved?
- What methods are there to protest to keep in line with the 1st Amendment?
