Mr Ott's Classroom Basics - Global History & Geography II

Accepted Basic Student Academic Norms

- Class Notebook - A neatly written class notebook is required each semester with all of our class notes, and worksheets that are collected and handed back and/or used for informational notes. You will be graded on your notebook.
- Class Binder - A neatly binder organizer is required to keep all of the materials that will be distributed. You might want to combine a notebook with your binder. You can use a three-hole spiral notebook inside your binder.
- Assignments - These are crucial for your understanding of Global History. There will be sub-topics that might not be covered completely in class, but will appear on exams and quizzes. Assignments are worth 20% of your marking period grade. The CourseWorksPlus module will have all of your assignments online. Most of these assignments are reading comprehension related. Assignments will be due on a particular date with no extensions given.
- Professionalism - History is one of those subjects which have perspectives built in to every topic, event, and idea. Multiple perspectives are the norm in history. With this is mind, students of history should be able to look at, discuss, take positions, and respect other opinions and discussions.
- Participation - This is one of the most important aspects of history. Without discussion, there is only one point-of-view. As we know, there are many points-of-view, and discussing those perspectives in a class discussion assists you in remembering the topics and their historical impacts for exams.
